Weather Summary

Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, July 25, 2008.

A front will linger over Japan and the Korean Peninsula on Friday. The line of heavy rain associated with the front will drench the region, and potentially cause flooding. Rainfall from the system could also reach eastern China. Low pressure will produce clouds and rain over central Russia, while a weakening front associated with the system will move eastward across Russia, triggering a line of rain across the region. A second front associated with the storm will bring moderate to heavy to central Russia and western Mongolia on Friday, with clouds and scattered showers possible into central China. Meanwhile, a separate low pressure system will bring precipitation to far eastern Russia, while the Kamchatka Peninsula will also see clouds and scattered light rain. Widespread heavy rain and thunderstorms will cover Southeast Asia, while the Middle East will be dry and hot.

Temperatures across most of the continent will be in the upper 20s to near 40, with teens in parts of Mongolia, Japan, and northeast China. Western India and the Middle East will see temperatures rise well into the 40s.

Most of Australia will remain dry on Friday due to dominating high pressure. A cold front will trigger a few showers along the southern coast of the continent, while a weak trough could produce clouds over a few areas of West Australia. Meanwhile, onshore flow could produce a few showers along the eastern coast of the continent.

Temperatures across the continent will be warmer on Friday, and range from the upper 20s to near 30 in the northern part of Australia down to the lower 10s in Victoria, New South Wales, and parts of Queensland.

The southern edge of the eyewall is now battering Harlingen, where sustained winds of 56 mph, gusting to 74 mph, have been observed. Reports from the Hurricane Hunters show that Dolly's pressure is now rising, and radar imagery out of Brownsville, Texas confirms that the storm is starting to weaken. Visible ...
